The Honda Civic family hatchback has been treated to a host of
minor styling updates, with the refreshed Volkswagen Golf rival debuting at the Paris Motor Show.
The
exterior changes are fairly subtle, but include a sportier front design with a
sleeker front bumper, and new headlamps including daytime running lights. The
hatchback also adds a diffuser-style rear bumper, deeper side skirts, a
black-finished rear spoiler and smart LED rear lights.
In-keeping
with the refreshed exterior, the inside has received some minor attention. It
looks a bit more upmarket; with chrome door handles and some fresher seat and
trim fabrics. But the biggest addition is an all-new Honda Connect audio and
information system.
Honda has
also revealed a new Sport derivative for the Civic hatch. Although no revisions
are made to the 1.6 diesel and 1.8 petrol engines, the Sport is supposed to set
the tone for the upcoming hot Civic Type-R model. It does this with a
deeper front mesh bumper, colour-coded rear spoiler and new 17-inch alloys.
Interior revisions are limited to a black roof-lining.
Standard equipment
across the 2015 range will now include Honda’s City Brake Active system.
Designed to avoid low-speed accidents, the system can scan the road ahead, and
apply the brakes if it detects an imminent collision below 20mph.
